A video of a man glued to his laptop and phone for a client meeting while surrounded by people offering prayers at a Durga Puja pandal in Bengaluru has gone viral on social media.
Shared by X account ‘Karnataka Portfolio’, the clip shows the man deep in work, oblivious to the celebrations around him. As the Durga Puja rituals carried on, he balanced his devices, seamlessly shifting between his laptop and phone.

Social media users were not impressed. Several users voiced their concerns, with one user saying, “He is neither dedicated to his work nor his personal life. We don’t want to have such a culture. When you shut down your laptop as per your work hours, then that’s it. The rest of the time is your personal time.”
Another user added, “This is really depressing. We need to enforce a better work culture in India. Such people shouldn’t reach management positions. Otherwise, they will expect such nonsense from others and soon we will see hundreds of laptops on such important occasions.”
For several users, the viral video was a glaring example of how the pressures of modern work life can intrude on personal and cultural experiences.

Clearly, social media users saw the video as a sign of a larger issue: people’s inability to draw a line between work and life.
